Situation alongside la Malvarossa, Port America’s Cup is purpose-built for this event, and features a 700-berth marina that is minutes from the race course area.

The inner harbour of the existing port has been completely redesigned, so don’t be surprised if the image of the port on the Google Map image looks a little out of date.

Restaurants and bars

There are eight bars and restaurants within the port itself. One of which, “Mercedes”, is a classic style brig. Berthed besides Veles e Vents, Mercedes is a public exhibit during the day, and at night becomes a luxurious bar.

Interactive activities

Should you feel the need to try your hand some sailing related activites you have a number to choose from.

There’s the remote control boat pool, where you can race 1/25th scale models of the teams involved in the America’s Cup around a 150 square meter pool.

If you fancy something a little more gruelling you can experience the Endesa Grinder, where you can see how well you’d do at raising and lowering a simulated main sail. And if you’d like to learn more about the science of sailing then try “Velas” Santander Sails, where you can see actual mainsails and spinnakers, and discover how the wind and the sails work together to power the boat.
